Not Quite Boot Camp
Fri Apr 09, 2010 5:14 pm by Drew
I don't know that anyone will read this, but I'm going to say it anyway...
Starting Sunday, I'm getting off my butt and doing what I'm supposed to. For the past three weeks, I've been getting up early and going to the gym, but I haven't followed it up with cardio and diet. (Cardio - no excuse. Diet - its been a bit hectic)
So I'm making a public commitment to do better for at least the next …

Come Run With Us
Fri Jan 15, 2010 7:54 pm by Drew
Marcus and I did the Walt Disney World half marathon on January 9. We both had done a half marathon before, but never in such a large group.
The run was great. It started outside EPCOT, ran over Disney roads, then through the Magic Kingdom (including running through Cinderella's castle), and back to EPCOT.
While it was fun, it would have been better in two ways: 1. not be so stinking cold …

Boot Camp is Over. Now What?
Fri Apr 09, 2010 3:53 pm by Drew
One of the worst things about boot camp is when it ends. Yes, it is wonderful to not have people yelling at you to "Hold Plank!!" for an hour, but what do you do after that in order to not lose the progress you made?
Let's get some ideas, people!

A Shot of Motivation for those in need
Fri Apr 09, 2010 5:04 pm by Drew
A couple thoughts to motivate you in the hard times.
If you quit when things get hard, you will never realize exactly what you can do and how far you can go.
The saying goes "Pain is weakness leaving the body." I'd like to add that pain is also a way to remember that you were built for more than eating and sitting. I remember some of the days that were the hardest and I HATED …

Confession Corner
Fri Apr 09, 2010 4:01 pm by Drew
Okay, so I did boot camp last year. Three of them, in fact. Since then... let's just say I fell off the wagon and haven't tried to catch it till recently.
I went from 270 (1/09) to 237 (8/09), mostly because of boot camp. However, after August, I have done very little, except run occassionally. I'm back around 255. I CONFESS!!
I know that I am not the only one. Someone else 'fess up. …

I just wanted to tell you guys how amazed I was at how well you all did today. Even though some of you got sick... you dug in deep and kept going. Jen W, I want you to regroup and come back tomorrow. You just need to eat more than celery. Clamydia, no more spaghetti dinners. You are all crazy. I really had to dig deep to come up with this crazy workout and you guys dominated it. Rock on …

BCx INFO for ORIENTATION & FINAL ENROLLMENT
As of this morning, we have 100 officially registered in BCx. We have 30 MORE who have not completed registration.
************NEW CLASS ADDED**********************
Due to the HUGE response to the 5:30am, we have also added a 6:30am time.
Please let me know if you want to switch to the new class time. Everyone else will stay at 5:30am.
_____________________________________________________________
PLEASE READ the following BCx info to help this weekend go smoothly:
1. TIPS FOR A SMOOTH ORIENTATION/ENROLLMENT
We would like to encourage anyone who wants to get through orientation quickly, to PLEASE consider paying prior to orientation so you don't have to stand in a loooooong line. You can pay today, tomorrow or between 7am-9am Saturday morning. You can also prepare for a quick getaway by bringing your check already filled out, made payable to LONGEVITY BOOT CAMP. Only repeat boot campers can pay early. NOTE: No one will be able to get an inbody OR BCx Books until we've received final payment (or payment plan approval). (REMEMBER, THERE IS A $25 LATE REGISTRATION FEE IF YOU PAY AFTER THIS WEEKEND)
2. NEW INBODY TICKET SYSTEM
Every boot camper will receive tickets for their inbodies (which we'll keep record of in the computer). Once final payment/enrollment is complete, these inbodies will be ready to use. Everyone will need to schedule their inbodies (no walk-ins) for better service. Anyone who pays early can get their inbody done early.
3. NEW BCX BOOKS
The new books not only have some of the helpful information of the last boot camp books, but they have workout routines in case you miss a day, lists of foods to eat, list of helpful items to bring or buy, 33/33/33 diet plan, how to read your inbody, progress tracking calendar, inbody schedule, progress scoring and BCx PT test sheet. The diet journal will now all be online using fitday.com. BOOKS WILL BE READY TOMORROW for anyone who pays early.

TO DO: Here is a list of things you can do to get ready for BCx
1. Sign-up for www.fitday.com...
and begin to get acquainted with the program. This is where you will track your calories and substrates (protein, carbs & fats)
2. Sign up for our Boot Camp forum.
This is going to be crucial. WIth as many people as we have enrolled, it is more efficient and practical for me to address questions and for us to share our ideas, etc publicly for all of us to read.
3. Purchase a heart rate monitor
(from Walmart, Target, etc.) If you find a good deal or have suggestions - please post it on our forum for all of our boot campers to see.
4. Purchase a Yoga Mat.
TJ Maxx, Ross & Marshalls tend to have affordable ones. Gloves will help definitely be a plus as well.
5. Purchase a food scale.
There's no way for you to track your calories accurately without one. ..and they are cheap at Publix, etc.
